Bringing Chilean flavors to your table
Our souvenir shop has an exciting new addition: EcoCamp’s first cookbook! A Taste of EcoCamp features 16 delicious recipes from our kitchen and four signature drinks from our bar. In addition, it offers insights into the cuisine of Chile, highlighting ingredients like Chilean wine, native potatoes from Chiloé, and Magellanic lamb.
For those who want to relive their EcoCamp Patagonia experience or simply discover the Chilean flavors from home, this is the perfect keepsake. It’s available in the Welcome Dome.
What’s inside the EcoCamp cookbook?
Spanning 88 pages, this cookbook celebrates Chilean food and the dishes that make EcoCamp’s menu. It includes:
- 4 appetizers
- 9 main courses
- 3 desserts
- 3 cocktails
- 1 mocktail
Each recipe is accompanied by a stunning photograph. The book includes recipes with meat, fish, or seafood, as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes. It also features dairy-free and gluten-free meals.
Beyond the recipes, it includes 10 background stories about Chilean cuisine, highlighting the traditions and ingredients that shape the country’s gastronomy. You can learn about the history of empanadas in Chile or get to know ingredients like king crab or cochayuyo.
Finally, it explains EcoCamp’s approach to food and our efforts to make our kitchen as sustainable as possible.
“I could write books about how amazing the food was.”
For years, travelers have shared their reviews about the food at EcoCamp. They praise the flavors, presentation, and overall dining experience. We’ve also received recipe requests from guests who wanted to recreate the dishes at home.
That’s how A Taste of EcoCamp was born: to give guests the opportunity to bring the flavors of EcoCamp—and, by extension, Chile—to their own tables as a unique travel souvenir.
This cookbook is both informative and inspiring. It provides background on the ingredients we use while encouraging readers to experiment in their kitchens.
From concept to creation
After the idea came to life, we got started. We collaborated with the chef to choose the recipes for the book, wrote them down, and worked with a photographer to capture their essence. We also met with our suppliers to learn about the qualities of their products and how they’re made, and consulted with experts on Chilean cuisine.
From there, we brought the concept to life visually, making sure the book reflected EcoCamp's spirit. Of course, tasting was a key part. The team tested the recipes in their kitchens for the final touches.
